Eleeza Agopian received her Bachelor's degree in Communication and Political Science from UC Davis. Currently, she works as a reporter for the Orange County Register where she covers the city, military and some political beats.
Eleeza is also working as a writer on a documentary chronicling a young woman in Armenia. The woman lost her leg in an earthquake in 1988, but now, after attending medical school is one of the country's few female orthopedic surgeons. The film explores Armenia's history following the earthquake and the subsequent break-up of the Soviet Union.
"I'm particularly interested in how global media and globalization have changed the nature of international communication. I'd also like to study press rights in new and emerging democracies.," she said.
In March she left her newsaper job to spend two months traveling in the Middle East.
"I've spent time in this region before and have always felt drawn to its history and ever-changing political face, which lately has such a huge impact on the rest of the world."
