In applying to CCT, I was looking for a graduate program in communication, but something that would do more than prepare me to work for a PR firm or in an ordinary 9-5 job. I wanted something that would give me a good base of knowledge but would also allow me to explore all of my interests, which range from politics to business to the arts, of which I have a background in both the arts and politics.
I became very interested in politics during the 2004 presidential election and began volunteering for political campaigns in Florida during my time at Florida State University. Most recently, I interned for 2008 Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Though I have recently become more involved and interested in politics, I will always have a special passion for dancing and singing. Dancing has given me a variety of opportunities, including the chance to travel to Rome, Italy, to perform for Italian dancers and also watch the Italian dancers perform. I’ve also been able to perform in such classic ballets as “The Nutcracker,” “Coppelia,” “Giselle,” “Cinderella” and “Dracula” as well dance in more of a modern style.
I’m most interested in the Media and Politics cluster as well as Media, Art & Representation and also the Technology and Information Policy clusters.
I don’t know what I want to do with my life. I love musical theater and dancing, but I’m also interested in politics and nonprofit organizations. I want CCT to give me a good, wide basis for exploring my career and life options as well as the opportunities to experience as much as possible. Whether I end up working in an arts center devoting my time to making it community appreciate its talent and efforts, or bettering the future of others by lobbying, running for office or working for a politician, or if I give myself to a non profit community blood center, I want the CCT program will give me the knowledge and experience I need.
