I recently graduated with a BA in Communication Studies from Chapman
University in Orange, California. While studying there, I studied
abroad in Limerick, Ireland where I took courses in Irish sociology,
history, and folklore. My favorite part of studying abroad was to
observe the cultural differences in communication.
At Chapman, I was heavily involved in the campus radio station. I
served the station in management nearly all four years and became
general manager my fourth year. While managing, I also had my own
weekly music and talk shows.
I was also very fortunate to obtain an internship with US Congress at
the district office of Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez. I worked with
the communication department (including her press secretary) and
traveled on many important site visits around Southern California
with the Congresswoman.
I have been very fortunate to be a part of several areas of
communication. However, my internship and a very inspiring course in
political communication has urged me to explore further the world of
media and politics. CCT's unique combination of disciplines drew me
to this specific program, but I am most eager to take courses in
media and politics. Though I am still not sure what I want to do
with my masters degree, I am certain that what I learn at CCT will
point me in a positive direction.
