Karen McNamara

Thesis: Blogging Breast Cancer: Language and Subjectivity in Women’s Online Illness Narratives

Biography:

Karen McNamara received her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University.

Karen focused on Cultural Studies during her time at CCT and wrote her thesis “Blogging Breast Cancer: Language and Subjectivity in Women's Online Narratives of Illness” about breast cancer blogs.  While in school she also worked part-time for University Information Services (UIS) at Georgetown, served as a teaching assistant, and consulted for local nonprofit organizations on Web communications.

Currently Karen is a Project Manager with KeyBridge, part of the Custom and Departmental Services group within University Information Services at Georgetown. She primarily manages Web development projects within the university.
