Professor Coventry Part of Workshop on Social Pedagogies
Prof. Michael Coventry worked with Randy Bass (Assistant Provost for Teaching & Learning Initiatives) and Heidi Elmendorf (Director of Science Planning for Georgetown College) on a panel and workshop titled "Social Pedagogies: Exploring a Design Frame Through Evidence of Learning." Prof. Coventry presented work from the Digital Storytelling Multimedia Archive on the ways that students use 'theory markers' in multimedia projects as a way of re-presenting knowledge, and that doing so makes them aware of multiple audiences in ways that traditional writing projects often do not. The Digital Storytelling Multimedia Archive was funded by the Visible Knowledge Project and the Center for New Designs in Learning & Scholarship at Georgetown, and new work on the archive is funded through the CNDLS Social Pedagogies Project by the Teagle Foundation.
