Academic Background: University of Portsmouth, UK, Computer Science (Database Administration). I also have an MBA in International Business from Edith Cowan University, Australia.
Area of focus in CCT: Visual Computing for Communication
What did you do before CCT? I was an Adjunct Lecturer for 6 years at an Australian university, a Senior Project Manager for 4 years at a UK-based IT Firm, and a freelance web developer.
What activities do you participate in at CCT? I was actively involved in the last 2 Media Fests, developing video games and VR games. I conduct car barn labs for CCTP506 on wordpress and php. I help out whenever CCT has events like Orientation or Open Houses. I also like to fix broken tech objects with Dr. Barba and Dr. Osborn, such as CCT's antique manual type writer and our Surface Table.
Why did you choose CCT? Being more of a Jack-of-all-trades, I was looking for a program where I could mix my creativity, programming and business skills. It felt like CCT was just made for me! But what attracted me most to CCT was the fact that I can pick any class from any program or school as I build my focus area.
What surprised you about CCT? CCT keeps surprising me by allowing me to experiment with my ideas and put them to practice without being trapped in a fixed curriculum. Even better, I get a lot of support from the faculty in turning my crazy innovative ideas to reality. CCT has given me the space to discover myself and the skills that I never knew I had or was capable of. I can expand my horizons to areas I never even dreamt of pursuing before. For once, I am ENJOYING what I am doing, and not just studying.
