Area of focus in CCT: Journalism, Censorship, Misinformation and Disinformation
What did you do before CCT? I graduated from American University with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism in May 2019. I have worked in journalism as a social media producer at Voice of America (VOA) since September 2019.
What activities do you participate in at CCT? I attended events hosted by CCT and the Georgetown University community. I enjoyed the research I was able to complete during my time in the program.
Why did you choose CCT? I chose CCT because I believed that it would help me in my journalism career and help to strengthen my research skills. Through this interdisciplinary program, I have been able to do what I enjoy the most—writing, research and learning about new topics.
What surprised you about CCT? The sense of community in the CCT program and at Georgetown University is very apparent! The faculty, staff and students come together to form an academic community that thrives on different ideas and perspectives. I appreciate the faculty and staff for their immense support in helping me navigate graduate school.
What have you been up to after CCT? After completing my time at CCT, I continue to work at VOA as a social media producer. Some of my responsibilities include editing videos, putting together photo posts and posting breaking news to VOA social media platforms.
