Stella Chen, CCT 2025

BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE MISSION OF THE ORGANIZATION AND WHAT YOUR ROLE WAS.

During the Summer of 2024, Stella interned at UiPath, a global software company that develops robotic process automation software. Within her role, she focuses on marketing operations working directly with the analytics and strategy teams to handle project management, improving data tracking and reporting systems and completing ad hoc activities tracked on Tableau, a business and analytics software that helps connect and visualize data across teams. Part of Stella’s position is organizing data dictionaries so that different internal teams can all understand the data collected and improve internal communication process efficiencies.

HOW DID YOUR CCT STUDIES INFORM YOUR EXPERIENCE OF THIS INTERNSHIP?

Stella feels that the communication skills she honed at CCT has been instrumental in the work she is doing at UiPath. Both group projects and extracurricular activities such as alumni networking events and faculty student happy hours have built, in her words, critical skills for the role she’s working in as she has to liaison between many different teams and boil down data into digestible information and actionable solutions. She feels that the investigation and information processing skills she built in Karen Kranack’s Qualitative Research course have played a large part in her confidence and success at UiPath.

HOW DO YOU THINK THE INTERNSHIP WILL INFORM YOUR CCT STUDENT EXPERIENCE?

Before participating in the internship, Stella knew she wanted to do something like project management in her professional career. Not only did this opportunity open the door, but it gave her a chance to gain hands-on experience in the field. Stella explained that while working at UiPath, no one knows that the actual outcome of the work will be– the process is full of uncertainties. And while this is challenging, she feels that it gives her a sense of resilience that will allow her to navigate future challenges with a sense of curiosity and a positive attitude. She feels like this process of experimentation and reflection will be a big takeaway for how she approached work both in and outside of the classroom. Stella says she “hopes the skills I’ve learned in quantitative research and data mapping to help my team craft compelling stories can be translated into some of my future projects in CCT and beyond.”

HOW DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT THIS INTERNSHIP?

By browsing LinkedIn job searches and applying soon after the job was initially posted. Upon receiving the offer, Stella applied for Curricular Practical Training work authorization and enrolled in CCTP-6001 CCT Internship. At the end of the course, she will write a final reflection paper describing how her internship builds on her CCT coursework and prepares her for her future career.
