Academic Background: BA in Journalism with a minor in International Studies from American University.
Area of focus in CCT: Journalism, Social Media & Mis/Disinformation.
What did you do before CCT? Before joining CCT, I worked as a multimedia reporter for a local newsroom in New Orleans, covering education, health and politics. Currently, I’m a Pulitzer Center grantee, reporting on climate change mitigation efforts in the Mekong and Mississippi deltas. Prior to my journalism career, I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from American University, where I co-founded and served as vice president and media chair of our Vietnamese Student Association, and contributed as a staff writer for the university’s online radio blog.
What activities do you participate in at CCT? I currently work as a Media Graduate Associate with the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship (CNDLS), assisting with video production and editing.
Why did you choose CCT? I chose CCT because of its flexibility, interdisciplinary approach and location in Washington, D.C., which allow me to explore my interests and create a path that is right for me. The staff and sense of community have also been major draws — everyone has been incredibly helpful and welcoming even before I committed to CCT and Georgetown.
What surprised you about CCT? How engaged and passionate the CCT community is and the amount of opportunities to build connections and explore new interests through the program.
