CCT Professor J.R. Osborn in Chicago for book talks

Dr. J.R. Osborn, CCT core faculty member, was in Chicago on April 4 – 5 to speak about his new book, Letters of Light: Arabic Script in Calligraphy, Print, and Digital Design.

The first event was at the Newberry Library, where Dr. Osborn had had a research fellowship in 2007. The talk, titled Arabic Scripts and Religious Change: 1450-1700 and Beyond, contributed a “comparative component to the Newberry’s theme of Religious Change, 1450-1700.”

The second event was at the University of Chicago’s Seminary Co-op bookstore, and co-sponsored by the Center for Middle Eastern Studies. The seminary Co-op also published a blog post, “J.R. Osborn’s Critical Reads,” recommended books related to his interests.
