CCT Prof. J.R. Osborn's Letters of Light shortlisted for 2018 British-Kuwait Friendship Society Book Prize
Dr. J.R. Osborn’s book, Letters of Light: Arabic Script in Calligraphy, Print, and Digital Design, is among 7 finalists for the 2018 British-Kuwait Friendship Society Book Prize.
The prize recognizes the best scholarly work in English on the Middle East published in its first edition in the United Kingdom. The judges are particularly interested in books which enhance understanding of the Middle East among a wider readership in the English-speaking world.
The British-Kuwait Friendship Society Book Prize was founded thanks to an endowment of the Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah Foundation. The prize attracts over 50 nominations from some 20 publishers each year.
This year, for the first time, a shortlist was made public at the The British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (BRISMES) Conference, June 25-28, 2018 in London. The final result will be announced at the Award Ceremony to be held later this year.
Dr. Osborn co-teaches the mandatory course, Fundamentals of Technology, with Dr. Evan Barba. This Fall, he teaches Documentary Video Production and Remix Practices.
