Dr. Meg Leta Jones Appointed as Chair of Georgetown University Communication, Culture, and Technology MA Program

The Communication, Culture & Technology (CCT) program is proud to announce that Dr. Meg Leta Jones has been appointed as the next Chair of CCT at Georgetown University starting July 1, 2026. This milestone recognizes Dr. Jones’ outstanding leadership in the program and contributions to scholarship, teaching, and public engagement at the intersection of technology, law, and society.
Dr. Jones focuses on technology policy as a founding faculty member of the Center for Digital Ethics and as a cartoonist for Science Politics. She’s also a faculty affiliate with the Institute for Technology Law & Policy at Georgetown Law Center, where she co-teaches the Technology Impact Lab, a course that trains students to support technical research for state attorney general offices. Through the Lab, students collaborate to produce applied research projects that address pressing issues such as AI guardrails, consumer manipulation, and child safety, and creatively communicate their findings so the public can understand them.
In her classroom, Dr. Jones is known for her rigorous, student-centered approach and her commitment to mentorship. Celeste Valentino, a Fritz Family Fellow with the Center for Digital Ethics, shares, “Working with Dr. Jones has allowed me to contribute to real-world change in policy and research beyond the classroom. Her encouragement and support have pushed me to be a better student in and outside of the classroom”
Dr. Jones’ promotion reflects her profound impact on the CCT community and Georgetown at large. We congratulate her on this well-deserved achievement and look forward to her continued leadership in shaping the Communication, Culture, and Technology program at Georgetown.
