Everyone in the program is so kind, curious, and brilliant. I’m always amazed

Simone Stewart
Academic Background: I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Communications from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL. A sociological background aids the study of Communications, Culture & Technology as it encourages the researcher to consider diverse patterns of behavior, the adverse experiences of all communities, and where historical precedent intersects with modern life.
Area of focus at CCT: I’m only two months in; too early to tell!
What did you do before CCT: Throughout my Digital Marketing career, I have developed a robust skill set that includes copywriting, graphic design, creative direction, and social media management. I have successfully managed communications campaigns across various platforms, including email newsletters, press releases, and social media content. I bring a strong creative vision as well as a penitent for advocacy and inclusivity in all projects.
Why did you choose CCT: I chose CCT because I wanted to make sense of all my interests; I am a creative professional with an affinity for design, brand strategy, writing and have always loved research. Upon graduating from this program, I want to gain a variety of practical research skills to study media literacy from an interdisciplinary approach. I am thoroughly interested in the sociological and cultural components of media studies. With CCT, I will have access to all of these perspectives and the flexibility to mix and match research approaches and disciplines.
What activities do you participate in at CCT: I am on the Executive Board of the Communications Social Network (CSN)
What surprised you about CCT: Everyone in the program is so kind, curious, and brilliant. I’m always amazed that — even during late night evening classes when most everyone’s energy has faded — a classmate will casually say the most poetic, philosophically sound tidbit that will completely uplift the class discussion. So much of my education thus far has been offered, not only by the professors, but the other students.
