What was your career before you started CCT? What drove you to pursue an M.A.?

Before CCT, I helped various companies in their UX departments. My role was to help product managers and designers make human-centric and data-driven design decisions. While working, I found myself reading about bigger-picture trends in technology such as disinformation, AI, augmented reality, etc. so I came to CCT to learn how to think more critically about these things.

How do you balance your academic and professional pursuits?

I’m lucky that my company is supportive of my studies. Also, I work on Pacific Standard Time so my mornings are dedicated to my studies. Working in technology while studying it has been great because when there is overlap I get to share it with my coworkers or fellow students.

How has CCT supported you in this process?

CCT has incredible professors who understand that part-time students have other obligations. The professors also recognize that each student brings a unique perspective to the classroom and makes sure to give space for student contributions.
