Jeremy Pesner (G’13) is shaping the future—literally.

As a newly appointed contract instructor with DMS Academy, an Applied Foresight Foundation Program, Jeremy helps organizations anticipate change, navigate uncertainty, and make informed decisions. In his role as Faculty, he develops tailored curricula and training programs designed to address each organization’s unique challenges and goals.

Jeremy’s expertise is rooted in futures studies, an interdisciplinary field that explores how the future might unfold. Also known as futures research or futurology, this field combines creativity, data analysis, and scenario planning to understand potential developments in society, technology, and policy. Its purpose is threefold: to anticipate how people might live and work in the future, to guide present-day decision-making, and to enhance human control over what’s to come. By applying predictive techniques like forecasting, systematically exploring alternatives, and analyzing past and present patterns, futures studies informs a wide range of disciplines—from business and innovation to public policy and environmental planning.

Jeremy first encountered futures studies here at CCT and has since honed the interdisciplinary approach that defines his career. Since graduating, he has worked across academia, policy, and consulting, teaching courses at Carnegie Mellon and Georgetown, advising local and federal governments, and collaborating with policy-focused nonprofits. He also served on the World Future Society’s Global Generational Advisory Council and has shared his insights at TEDx Herndon and The Startup newsletter on Medium.

With a background spanning computer science, public policy, data analysis, and futures studies (which he first encountered at CCT!), Jeremy brings an interdisciplinary approach to his work. His ability to integrate methodologies across fields allows him to offer organizations fresh perspectives and actionable strategies.

From academia to policy to future thinking, Jeremy’s career reflects the adaptability and forward-thinking mindset that CCT fosters in its graduates.
