Area of focus in CCT: Social implications of media and communication technologies; UX design and research

What activities do you participate in?  At CCT I am a TA for our Introduction to Interdisciplinary Methods course and a research assistant for Professor Diana Owen. With Dr. Owen’s guidance, I research news media consumption and US perspectives on political norms. I also am a research assistant at Georgetown’s Digital Health and Happiness Lab, and an associate at the Civic Education Research Lab.

Why did you choose CCT?  I chose CCT for two reasons. First, I loved the flexibility in coursework. I’ve always been a bit of a disciplinary nomad and I needed to find somewhere where I could explore all of my interests and work towards developing competency with as many research methods as possible. Second, the community! After a year of remote school, I think we all can agree that learning is better together.

What surprised you about CCT? I was surprised how much the faculty and other students took an interest in my work! Even though we all study different things, most people in the program seem genuinely excited to learn from each other regardless of their discipline.
