“I wanted a chance to explore my interests and develop an expertise related to media and tech.”
Academic Background: BS in Journalism and International Studies with a certificate in Integrated Marketing Communications
Area of focus in CCT: Journalism, accountability and societal influence of new media
What did you do before CCT? I’ve lived in the DC area for about just about 5 years and worked (and currently work) in online video journalism. Some of my previous employers include Vox, Quartz, TEGNA and NPR, among others.
What activities do you participate in at CCT? I started my graduate education online, but once on campus I joined the Global Media Group’s board of directors. The Global Media Group is a student group which discusses and shares interests and research in new media from various cultures around the world.
Why did you choose CCT? I wanted a chance to explore my interests and develop an expertise related to media and tech. The faculty seemed (and is) really knowledgeable and I wanted a little extra intellectual stimulation in my life.
What surprised you about CCT? The range of interesting class subjects and the warm and supportive community of classmates and faculty. Everyone is coming from different backgrounds and levels of experience, so you can be a student, mentor and colleague all at once.
